Hand In Hand With A Stranger

A collaboration with composer Laura Agnusdei, this book supplements a piece comprised of field recordings, personal ponderings and improvisation with electronics.

The narrative follows Laura’s journies through Italy and the Netherlands during the winter of 2019 and into 2020. Soundscapes and narrated musings offer a glimpse into the thoughts of a travelling musician, before sinking into the stifling restrictions of a national lockdown.

The layout of the book is a visual representation of the points of commentary during the audio work, where moments in time are shown in position on the page. Time codes replace page numbers while maps, notes and photos are presented like a scrap-book collage.

As with the steady pacing of the piece, the book evokes the sense of travel by emphasising not just significant events but equally the time and distance in-between.
